The Pioneers of European Puppetry

The beginning of the 20th century was rejuvenated by a generation of important figures, who proposed new forms in puppetry and integrated the artistic work of composers, writers and artists into their art. The travelling exhibition focuses on the selected puppetry masters: Milan Klemenčič (1875–1957) and his miniature theatre, Vittorio Podrecca (1883–1959) and his show-biz-inspired marionette puppet theatre, as well as the avant-garde puppetry by Hermenegildo Lanz (1893–1949) who, along with the composer Manuel de Falla and poet Federico Garcia Lorca, is thought of as one of the founders of Spanish puppetry.

As Part of the European project All Strings Attached: The Pioneers of European Puppetry Behind the Scenes the exhibition will be presented also in Croatia, Spain and Italy.
